Honda Odyssey FL250 (1976 - 1981)

Many people search online for the "Honda Odyssey Go Kart" or "Honda Odyssey Go Cart" when in fact they are really searching for the early model FL250. The 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 model year Honda Odyssey FL250 ATVs are considered by many, to be more of a go kart in style. This is mainly due to the lack of a full rail cage which helps protect the driver from rollovers during off-roading activities. Full roll cages are found on smaller all-terrain vehicles such as dune buggies or mini sand-rails.

Most street or track only go carts though are slower speed vehicles. Although the FL250 was small and lacked a roll cage it was still capable of speeds reaching 50mph unmodified. This made it suitable for off-road racing use. Compounded by the lack or a true rear suspension the original FL250 was very susceptible to rollover accidents.

Due to the popularity and demand for a dune buggy style of Honda ATV, they upgraded the FL250 in 1982 to include a full roll cage and eventually released a more appropriate dune buggy in the FL350. Click below for more.
